Russell History

Russell, Massachusetts  - Establishment of a New England Town and early historical notes  is now available and is being published by 'Off the Common Press', a part of Levellers Press, Amherst Massachusetts.

The book is a compilation of research by Ralph E. Cortis over the last 25-30 years.
In 2008 I joined my father with occasional on-line research.  Since retiring in January 2013, I have been focused on additional research and getting this in publication.

Our book
gives a background on Russell's establishment and development and provides a synopsis of how the town developed between it's founding in 1792 and the early 1900's.

The table of contents, below right, shows how the book is laid out.

For those local to the Westfield/Russell area both Bruce W. Cortis and Ralph E. Cortis have copies of the book available to sell.

Additonally, books can be obtained from Jim Cortis of Russell,  the Russell Library and Whip City Candle, North Elm St, Westfield.

Cost of the book is $16.95 plus 1.05 Massachusetts sales tax.

Shipping for the book is $3.50 when ordered on-line.

The can be ordered on-line by using the 'Contact US' page here or from our publisher, Off the Common Books.
